The IC693CMM302 module is an enhanced Genius communications module manufactured by GE Fanuc Automation and it belongs to Series 90-30. This communication module is specially intended for use as a GCM device, and it can communicate with the global data between several devices at a time. This module is part of the GE Fanuc Series 90-30 PLC along with 31 other units which are connected to the Genius Bus. The operators are advised to install the GE Fanuc IC693CMM302 communication module on the baseplate of the PLC system CPU to enable efficient operation. However, it can also be installed on the expansion baseplates or remote baseplates in the same system. The enhanced Genius communication modules do not support installation in the PLCs which have regular GCMs in them.

Several GE Fanuc communications modules, including the IC693CMM302 enhanced Genius communication module, each have a distinct Genius bus and they can connect with or communicate with a maximum of 31 other devices simultaneously, and they also allow for installation in a PLC system. For instance, the Series 90-30 GE Fanuc PLC systems comprise 2 enhanced Genius communications modules, and it allows for communication with up to 62 other devices concurrently. The GE Fanuc IC693CMM302 communications module is often used for the exchange of global data, and it can also handle tasks such as peer-to-peer communication, data monitoring through a personal or industrial computer, data monitoring from the Genius I/O blocks, and master-slave communication between the Bus devices.
